A. (Alexander) Massoud, M.A. Econ.
CEO & Director

Alexander Massoud brings a wealth of experience within the investment banking and venture capital industries. Born in Alexandria, Egypt, Mr. Massoud has been instrumental in undertaking the corporate finance and development initiatives for Alexander Nubia Inc. since the Company’s inception in 2006.

Prior to founding Alexander Nubia., Mr. Massoud held senior strategic consulting positions for multiple large-scale real estate and development projects. Mr. Massoud holds an M.A. in Economics from Simon Fraser University.

 

Giles Baynham, ARSM
Non-Executive Director

Mr. Baynham holds a degree in Mining Engineering and Rock Mechanics from the Royal School of Mines. Mr. Baynham is a former banker with significant experience in structuring and financing transactions for the development of Mining and Oil & Gas projects. Having started his career with Rio Tinto, he worked for nearly 8 years in London including roles as Director, Natural Resources Team for the Industrial Bank of Japan / Mizuho Corporte Bank and Manager, Natural Resources with MN Rothschild & Sons. From 2003 to 2008 Mr. Baynham was with Endeavour Financial in Vancover, Canada, where he remains based and involved in the development of natural resource projects. He is also currently Chairman of CB Gold Inc., which operates in Columbia.

 

Mark Campbell
Non-Executive Director

Mr. Campbell has over 30 years of experience in the investment banking and petroleum industry, and he is currently a Senior Corporate Finance with Fox Davies Capital Limited in London, a specialist resources investment banking firm.

Mr. Campbell was a former technical consultant to Pharaoh Gold Mines, now a wholly owned subsidiary of Centamin Egypt Limited, and formerly, Chief Executive Officer of Frontier Drilling and Oilfield Services Inc., an oilfield services company that operated within Africa. Prior to 1999, Mr. Campbell held senior positions in the investment banking business with T. Hoare & Co., Chase Manhattan, Salomon Brothers and Lehman Brothers Kuhn Loeb, focusing on global resource companies. Mr. Campbell studied at the University of Iowa and Texas Tech University in economics and geology.

 

Peter Ruxton, BSc, Ph.D., MBA
Non-Executive Director

Dr. Ruxton is an international mining executive with over thirty years of experience that includes mineral exploration, mine development and private equity financing. He spent the first 15 years of his career in the mining industry, including 11 years with Billiton Australia, where he played a key role on the team that discovered the 10+ million ounce gold project, Sunrise Dam Gold Mine (now Anglo Gold). Dr. Ruxton spent a further three years as Exploration Manager with Ross Mining N.L. of Australia, where he coordinated the Gold Ridge bankable 1 million ounce gold project feasibility study.

Following the completion of his MBA in December 2000, Dr. Ruxton spent eight years as a Fund Manager, joining the Commonwealth Development Corporation (CDC) as an Investment Manager in its Minerals, Oil & Gas team with a focus on Africa and Emerging Markets. In 2004 CDC evolved into Actis LLP, a private equity firm, where Dr. Ruxton was promoted to Partner. During his career as a Fund Manager he was instrumental in executing over 10 mining deals which resulted in over $200 million invested capital and a 20% internal rate of return. In addition to a number of African related mining transactions, Dr. Ruxton’s emerging market expertise also includes projects in Turkey and Oman as the current President and CEO of Gentor Resources Inc. Dr. Ruxton also serves as a non-executive member of the board of directors of Platmin Ltd. Dr. Ruxton holds a B.Sc. (Hons.) in Geological Sciences and a Ph.D in Economic Geology from the University of Leeds, England.
